Preston House is an eight-bedded inpatient ward delivering multidisciplinary rehabilitation care in the community following step down from acute settings.
It's set on our site at The Kingswood Centre in Brent, a therapeutic environment of green space with nature walks, a sensory garden and a fish pond.
The service is provided across the boroughs of Brent, Harrow, Hillingdon, Kensington and Chelsea as well as Westminster.
We have a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, trained support workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, an occupational therapist, physiotherapists, a physical exercise coach, a speech and language therapist, a music therapist, an independent advocate and a range of administrative staff.
The service is for people with complex needs as a result of a severe and enduring mental illness which is psychotic in nature. People will stay for a maximum of 12 weeks.
The people we care for:
- Males aged 18 years and over
- Those who are admitted to an acute mental health hospital informally or detained for treatment under the Mental Health Act
We have a stepped care model that includes the following:
- High Dependency Units
- Managed Access Units
- Community Rehabilitation Ward
All referrals into the service must be via acute beds in the five boroughs: Brent, Harrow, Hillingdon, Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea.
Referrals are made by emailing this referral form to the Rehabilitation Patient Flow Manager at: tr.mentalhealthrehabinpatientreferrals@nhs.net
