The Brent Parent and Infant Relationship Service (Brent PAIRS) is a specialist team working with babies and their parents or caregivers. We are here to help parents who may be struggling in their relationship with their baby.
We work with babies up to the age of 24 months, with their parents or caregivers. We also support parents-to-be.
The team consists of Parent-Infant Psychotherapists who meet with families in Family Wellbeing Centres in Brent.
We recognise that strong and nurturing relationships between parents and/or caregivers and their baby offers the best start in life, whilst acknowledging that being a parent isn’t always easy.
Brent PAIRS provides therapeutic support to mothers, fathers and carers, who might be experiencing difficulties with attachment and bonding with their baby. Our support also extends to mothers and fathers to-be.
We are here to help support the unique relationship between baby and their parents and/or caregivers by offering:
- Assessments: To identify the parents and/or caregivers and babies’ relationship needs.
- Parent-baby sessions: Joint sessions with parents with baby to support positive relationships, help parents understand how the world appears from their baby’s perspective, or address any other concerns parents may have.
- Consultations for professionals and families: We're here if there is a concern or question about the emotional wellbeing or mental health of an infant under two.
- Advice: A safe and non-judgmental space to think about the relationship between parent and baby.
- Signposting: Helping parents to access other services that could be helpful.
Parents and babies that present with mild to moderate perinatal mental health together with parent/infant relationship concerns can be referred to the Brent PAIRS service.
