In December 2024, CNWL Arts in Health participated in a visit to the Design Museum to experience the paid exhibition of renowned multi-disciplinary artist Tim Burton. This major showcase immersed visitors in Burton’s world, highlighting the evolution of his distinctive aesthetic.
The exhibition drew extensively from Burton’s personal archive, tracing his creative journey from childhood to the present day. The collection included an array of mediums such as drawings, paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, moving-image works, sculptural installations, as well as set and costume designs. It focused on recurring visual themes and motifs present in Burton’s iconic characters and fantastical worlds, providing a comprehensive look at his artistic vision across his career.
Inspired by this rich exploration, members later engaged in a workshop session using collage and various art materials. This creative space allowed them to reflect on their own experiences, drawing parallels to the themes of imagination and storytelling central to Burton’s work.
