In January, CNWL Arts in Health visited the Saatchi Gallery to experience ‘As We Rise: Photography from the Black Atlantic'. The exhibitionists at the intersections of community, identity, and power, highlighting these themes not as isolated features, but as a tangible, integrated essence across the African diaspora. The Black artists feature span across the globe, and reflect the expansive and complex narratives of Black history and identities across nations and generations.
The participants enjoyed a guided tour, where they explored the history and concepts that underpin the exhibit’s curation. They engaged in thought-provoking conversations about the exhibition's themes of solidarity, resistance and community.
Following the tour, they had the exclusive opportunity to participate in a flower-making workshop to create recycled dried flower sculptures that will be featured as part of the work of artist Rebecca Louise Law and her upcoming exhibition, ‘Flowers - Flora in Contemporary Art and Culture’ at Saatchi this mid-February.
