HMP and YOI Bronzefield is a modern purpose-built prison for women, the largest female prison in Europe which opened in June 2004 and is run by Sodexo Justice Services.
At HMP Bronzefield, we offer a wide range of specialist healthcare services to over 500 women.
Our specialist services include
- intellectual disability services
- pregnancy services
- perinatal services
These are offered in the prison to women and through community care to their children.
We are national forerunners in providing specialist prison perinatal mental health services.
We have a specialist team and offer a range of care and treatment by
- a consultant psychiatrist
- nurses
- occupational therapists
- psychologists.
We offer trauma-informed mental health and physical care. Trauma-informed approaches acknowledge the relationship between people's life experiences and the development of mental health difficulties. We also provide highly specialist ‘Offender Personality Disorder’ services. Our range of healthcare professionals also provide specialist interventions to those residing on the healthcare unit and Mother and Baby Unit.
We are currently in an exciting phase of developing healthcare services through innovation, which includes healthcare interventions and expansion of our digital technology. We also work closely with our partner agencies to provide optimum health outcomes for women while in custody and in preparation for transfer or release.
