The Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster (KCW) Community Forensic Service provides a fully integrated health and social care service of care coordination within the Care Programme Approach (CPA), to those service users with a history of offending, or at risk of offending who are viewed as being a significant risk to others.
As part of the management of service users under the CPA framework, the service provides a range of statutory and therapeutic interventions to meet health, social, occupational/ employment, financial, legal and housing needs.
This includes the psychiatric and social supervision requirements for those conditionally discharged from section 41 of Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 (amended 2007). The team also provides risk assessment and management strategies using evidence-based frameworks such as risk prediction tools e.g. HCR20.
The service provides communication, education and signposting to support for the effective assessment and management of mentally disordered offenders, ensuring that service users are managed at an appropriate part of the care pathway.
The Service is a partnership between Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL). West London NHS Trust, Westminster City Council) and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
