We understand that the recent media coverage about the antipsychotic medication, clozapine, may be concerning for patients and their loved ones.
If you or a family member is prescribed clozapine and are worried, please contact your clozapine clinic, mental health team or doctor. Alternatively, you can request a consultation with a pharmacist by texting 07563 466 418. Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm.
It is extremely important that patients do not stop taking clozapine without speaking to their doctor or mental health team as this could affect their overall physical and mental health.
Clozapine remains a very effective treatment, especially for those where other treatments may have failed. The majority of adverse effects can be minimised or prevented through careful monitoring and understanding what may affect clozapine blood levels.
CNWL will work with patients to make sure every patient receives the correct monitoring and advice and we are here to address and action any concerns raised by patients and carers promptly.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch by texting 07563 466 418 if you would like a one-to-one appointment with a senior pharmacist to discuss your medication. We offer online or phone appointments, or in person if you prefer.
