The Brent Wellbeing Hub is a gathering of key organisations and charities in Brent who will offer advice and wellbeing support to all Brent residents. It’s free, no ticket is required and refreshments will be provided.

Jenny Lanyero, Team Manager of the Brent Health Inequalities Team said, “We’re proud to work closely with so many crucial community organisations in Brent. As part of the Brent Health Matters Programme, supporting residents to manage and reduce the prevalence of diabetes is one of our priorities and along with our partners including, Brent Council and the Prince’s Trust, put together this fun yet important event to support the people of Brent.”

CNWL’s Brent Health Inequalities Team will be there and looking forward to meeting as many Brent residents as possible. They will be able to support anyone with emotional, mental health and physical wellbeing needs or questions. If you need confidential emotional support, stop by and they’ll be happy to help.

As it is Diabetes Week, the team will be sharing ways people can reduce their risk of getting type 2 diabetes.

CNWL’s Community Connectors are working closely with South Asian and African Caribbean communities in Brent to help prevent type 2 diabetes, as data has shown a high proportion of people from a South Asian and African Caribbean background are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, earlier in life and in the case of South Asian people at a lower BMI and 5- 10 years younger than those from white British backgrounds.

Having diabetes can be difficult, there’s the constant need to check blood sugar levels, read through complicated food labels and generally deal with the highs and lows diabetes can bring. People often experience diabetes distress - the emotional burden of living with and managing diabetes. That’s why Diabetes Week exists and this year Diabetes UK is celebrating everyone who is doing the above and more.

Come on down to Church End and Roundwood Unity Centre on 14 June from 10am-3pm to celebrate Diabetes Week and meet the CNWL team.
