The Brigid app is now live in 60% of wards across CNWL, including more recently in Beatrice Place, St Charles Hospital and Park Royal Hospital.

Brigid is a companion app of SystmOne, the NHS’ patient record system, which gives clinicians the ability to record patient information using a tablet. In real time, staff can record mental health observations, document vital signs observations and generate NEWS2 scores – a vital tool for identifying and responding to early signs of patient deterioration.

We are on track to have the Brigid app live in all CNWL inpatient wards by the end of the year.

Staff at CNWL who were involved in testing Brigid reported the time taken to record vital sign observations decreased from an average of four hours to one hour or less. This has saved an average of 13 hours of clinical time per week for each ward, reducing staff time spent at a computer in favour of more time with patients. The app helps to standardise documentation and make it easier to conduct clinical audits.

When asked about their experience with the app several staff members emphasised its intuitive and innovative nature. They stated how it will be a necessary innovation to their current facilities. One staff member expressed it was a “welcome change” that can positively impact the future of their ward.
