A message from Ann Smith, Chair of the CNWL Carers Council:

Carers Week (10 to 16 June) is an annual campaign to raise awareness of the many friends and family members who spend time caring for a loved one.

The week highlights the challenges unpaid carers face and it also helps people who don’t see themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify and access much-needed support.

Carers Week is led by Carers UK with the support of a number of other charities, and the theme for 2024 is ‘Putting carers on the map’.

We are asking everyone to help us raise awareness of carers and to thank them for the invaluable role they carry out.

CNWL is no exception. Many parts of the Trust are busy helping with our third sector partners to organise information and events, providing an opportunity to meet other carers and giving much needed rest and respite locally.

We have put together a programme of events and resources so staff can get involved. Staff can find the programme in the weekly bulletin.

Launch of CNWL’s Carers Charter – Friday 14 June at Trust HQ

This Carers Week, we're launching our first Carers Charter. Developed with unpaid carers and patients, it sets out our commitment to people who support or help a person receiving care at CNWL.

Pop in and say hello on Friday 14 June from 10am to 1.30pm, where we will be in the reception area at Trust Headquarters, sharing information about the new Carers Charter, Triangle of Care, Carers at Work Staff Network as well as some mindfulness exercises and snacks.

It will be an opportunity to meet and chat about the work we are doing alongside the Trust to develop and deliver robust services for the service users in their care.

For any non-staff planning to attend, please email Grace.Levy@nhs.net for further details so we can make sure your name is on the visitors list.
