CNWL’s Check in & Chat service, initially launched in May 2020, is looking for extra volunteer chatters to join our existing cohort of volunteers during the festive period (and beyond). The volunteer chatters will provide additional listening support to any CNWL Service Users or Carers who are struggling amidst this time of the year - plus the added uncertainty of a new Covid variant, travel bans and other restrictions.

Check in & Chat offers weekly calls between 9am and 5pm on weekdays. The calls last for 45 minutes to an hour for CNWL service users or unpaid (friends or family) carers of CNWL service users.

If you have some extra time to offer, or any of your friends and family do, please visit our website where you can read more about the role and apply for it.

Training will take place via Zoom on 16 December from 10am to 4.30pm. We hope you can start soon afterwards.

"Getting through Christmas is so tough and I wouldn't of done it without the service." - Service user quote .

CNWL’s Chief Nurse Maria O’Brien said:

“A check in and chat call can make all the difference to someone who is lonely at this time and is a positive step to engage with someone who may have little or no contact with others.

“I totally enjoyed doing it. I chatted to a lovely lady daily for 10 days. My patient was open, honest and full of stories. It was a pleasure to get to know her."  - Volunteer Chatter
