Davina Jhummun, Clinical Lead OT for Perinatal Services in CNWL contributed to the book “Mothers Accused and Abused Addressing Complex Psychological Needs” By Angela Foster.

The book, published by Routledge, contains stories about cycles of abuse in families, in particular, mothers who are accused of harming their children, who subsequently go onto harm others.

It addresses ways of breaking these cycles of abuse and neglect.

In the book she mentions CNWL's Perinatal Services and NHS England's long-term plan to expand Perinatal Services across the country.

Davina says: "I emphasize the positive impact Perinatal Services has on breaking these cycles of abuse within families at the earliest intervention.

"One of my service users at the time agreed to provide her story to evidence this which is also featured in the book. She highlights her positive experience of our in-patient and community services, highlighting the value of the MDT and the relationships she developed with staff in supporting her through her recovery journey."
