CNWL’s Social Isolation and Digital Inclusion project partnership with Age UK (both Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea branches) has been selected as one of the top 10 ‘Digital Skills or Talent Initiatives of the Year’ by Digital Leaders 100 (DL100) Awards.

For the last ten years, The DL100 Awards have celebrated “the individuals and organisations from the public, private and non-profit sectors who are demonstrating a pioneering and sustainable approach to digital transformation in the UK.” The winning project for 2022 will be announced at the DL100 awards ceremony in late June.

Please note: there is also a People’s Choice award which will be decided by a public vote. If you like the sound of this project, you can vote for it by following this link.

The KCW Social Isolation & Digital Inclusion project supports and enhances CNWL’s existing Older Adult Mental Health services, delivering targeted outreach support to vulnerable elderly people, including those living alone. The support offered includes:

  • Assessing people’s needs
  • Loaning digital equipment
  • Intensive one-to-one coaching and follow up in areas such as video calling, online shopping, social media and browsing the internet

Tariro Gumbo, Senior Community Partnerships and Engagement Lead for CNWL, said: “this is a great testament to how our collaborative work with third sector organisations can facilitate innovative ways of supporting our patients and the community at large. This project has been a joy and has involved so much hard work. Thank you to KCW Older Adult teams, the fantastic Age UK team, their volunteers and the CNWL staff who supported this project.”

Rouba Sayed, Digital Inclusion Project Manager at K&C Age UK, said: “We are very pleased with the nomination which shows how valuable our project is; especially when it comes from external independent jury members. We look forward to continue supporting older people by developing their digital skills to overcome social isolation, within this successful partnership with CNWL”.

Congratulations to Age UK and the many CNWL colleagues who have worked to make this project a success.

Remember: if you think this project is deserving of the award, please vote for the KCW Social Isolation Pilot and encourage people you know to vote as well!
