CNWL Sexual Health Services have launched two new Q&A videos about PrEP, the free medication that protects people who are HIV-negative from contracting the virus. CNWL provides PrEP at three clinics in North Central London – Mortimer Market Centre, Archway and Edgware Community Hospital – and from clinics in Surrey.
One video answers frequently asked questions about PrEP (opens link) and the other provides information about the patient journey, as they start and continue PrEP care at CNWL clinics - accessing PrEP video here (opens link) The videos were scripted using a co-design approach, with the questions answered based on interviews with patients, nurses, and outreach staff.
As well as supporting CNWL’s existing PrEP patients, the videos will help to promote and demystify PrEP.
Dominic Reilly, North Central PrEP Lead, said, “When we do PrEP outreach in our communities, we often hear from people who would benefit from PrEP but aren’t taking it that they wanted to know more about PrEP, weren’t sure if it was for them, or didn’t know how to start and continue accessing PrEP medication. These videos answer common queries people may have before starting PrEP, and will be a useful reference resource for existing PrEP patients”.
It is hoped the videos will also be useful to other Health and Social Care professionals who want to know more about PrEP and can signpost their service users to local clinics.
