CNWL has published its Quality Account to our website.

The report (89 pages), can be downloaded by clicking here (opens PDF).

The Trust Quality Account is our report to the public about delivering better and safer care, and what we have achieved in the last year.

Quality is at the heart of our work and the top-line in our strategy. We have a range of means to judge it including patient, carer and partner feedback about experiences, inspections, audits, staff education, Quality Improvement projects and accreditation. Our Quality Scorecard confirmed that we maintained quality throughout the year.

We launched three new quality priorities this year and are pleased to set out the next two years of delivery. Our priorities are reducing pressure ulcers, reducing restrictive interventions and better patient outcomes.

The CQC visited us for a Well-Led inspection in late summer and we were pleased to maintain our “Good” rating for the Trust.

Highlights of the year include:

  • Our launch of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), a new approach to incident review with a focus on learning and improvement.
  • Our Year of the Child campaign with a range of activities across our services.
  • National Clinical Audit activity greatly increased this year but there were few audits which made improvement recommendations for CNWL and one positive outlier.
  • The hard work of staff and partners meant that we sent none of our patients out of area.

In the opening statement, Chief Executive Claire Murdoch CBE, said:

“We are grateful to our patients, carers and staff for engaging with our work so positively. Patient and carer involvement is vital to CNWL and 2023-24 saw increased strengthening of this work. Experts by Experience influence our culture by training clinicians and chairing consultant recruitment panels. They support service quality through unannounced visits and help our carers to keep their loved ones safe”.
