Today we launch our CNWL Safety Strategy; Improving Safety, Reducing Harm.

It’s a call to action for all staff to reflect on what is important in your particular service to improve safety for patients and staff.

You can read the strategy here.

The pandemic has given renewed focus on the NHS duty to protect patients and staff from harm; maintaining safety for all and in particular, those from more disadvantaged backgrounds and communities.

Every incident can have a profound impact on the individual patient or staff member; we all have a personal responsibility to do all that we can to drive continued learning and ongoing improvement.

This three-year strategy provides a road-map to support working and learning, to make CNWL an organisation where safety is our number one priority.

We want staff to review and discuss safety in team meetings, to work in partnership with patients and carers on safety initiatives, and use QI methodology to test ideas for change.

Each team will develop a local safety pledge using this card
