The first ever Barnet Pride in the Park was held on Sunday 20 August. There was brilliant attendance from the local community, bringing together LGBTQ+ people and their allies from London’s largest borough. Organised by Inkluder (CIC) and the London Borough of Barnet, the event saw a packed schedule of drag queen-led entertainment and culminated in a parade around the park.
Clinic staff from the Sexual Health Service at Edgware Community Hospital turned out in force, working alongside CNWL’s PrEP Community Outreach Team to provide sexual health information, PrEP merchandise and signposting attendees to clinical services. Free condoms in a wide variety of shapes and sizes were provided by the Freedoms Shop.
Anne Power, Staff Networks Coordinator, attended on behalf of Pride@CNWL Staff Network and distributed progressive Rainbow anyards and pins to CNWL staff, see first photo below.
The event was a great opportunity to build links with a number of LGBTQ+ social groups in the borough, and all the CNWL teams involved look forward to this being the first of many Prides in Barnet.
