Great news! Our Surrey Sexual Health Service has been praised by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) for their incredible work to improve the Chlamydia detection rate, particularly among young women.

In their feedback to Surrey Commissioners, they said:

“We want to acknowledge all the work you have been leading locally to improve the chlamydia Detection rate for the Chlamydia Screening Programme – under 25s and females only. We’ve had the highest Detection rate since before 2012 (or indeed ever)! Fourth highest Detection rate in the South East and among your nearest neighbours. Many congrats to all involved”.

This is a great achievement and a testament to the effectiveness of their campaigns and services over the years. Working in partnership with the Surrey Public Health team, the service has been dedicated to raising awareness of regular sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and making their sexual health services more accessible to residents in Surrey. Their ongoing initiatives include launching a Summer of Love campaign and hosting activities during sexual health week/day to promote their STI testing kits and improve overall sexual health and wellbeing.

In the UK, a young person is diagnosed with Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea every 4 minutes. CNWL Surrey Sexual Health Services offer free and confidential sexual health advice and support for young people, including testing for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and contraception. We have dedicated Young People’s clinics in WeybridgeGuildford,EarnsdaleWokingEpsom and Oxted and young people can also order an STI testing kit online which is delivered directly to their home.

There are two types of STI testing kits available; one is for people aged 16 and over which tests for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV and Syphilis - and the other kit is for people under 25 and tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.  Visit the sexual health website to find out more about our services and to order an online STI testing kit.
