CNWL gave a warm welcome to the staff of its new Breathe smoking service at a welcome event at the Trust’s HQ in Central London this morning.
Operating in Camden and Islington and working closely with the local authorities, Breathe will help locals live healthier lives by supporting them to give up smoking through delivery of behavioural change interventions and Nicotine Replacement Therapy.
Teresa Wirz, CNWL’s Head of Addictions, said: “We’re so delighted to be able to welcome the fantastic Breathe Team to CNWL and very excited that all staff have successfully transferred over.
“Their experience running a patient-centred stop smoking service is going to be a real asset to the Trust and we can’t wait to work with them to deliver outstanding care to the people of Camden and Islington.”
Breathe is an integrated three-tiered stop smoking service to make sure tobacco users receive the best support according to their circumstances and personal preference.
The tiers of the service will be:
Self-support: use of online and printed information and apps for smokers who want to quit without ongoing one-to-one or group support.
Brief support: a clinical service (minimum of two sessions) with appropriate medication provided by trained professionals in community settings.
Specialist support: a clinical service for smokers who find it harder to quit, and can benefit from intensive face-to-face behavioural support, alongside optimum medication.
