Dr Praveen Singh (pictured left) has been appointed the new Trustwide Physical Health Lead at CNWL. He will take up the role from 1 February 2024.
Dr Singh, who currently works in the Trust’s memory services, will lead projects to enhance the physical health of patients with serious mental disorders across CNWL.
Dr Singh has been a consultant psychiatrist in the Trust’s memory services for around seven years focusing on diagnosis and management of dementia and mental illness in older adults. Prior to that he worked for East London NHS Foundation Trust in adult and older adult psychiatry.
Commenting on his appointment to the role, Dr Singh, said
“I am happy to be invited to play a role in improving the physical health of our patients. I will be working with the Chief Nurse and other physical health leads to continue the hard work put in place by my predecessor, Dr Rahman. I will consult widely and work closely with all our nursing, medical and allied colleagues to improve physical health outcomes for the patients in CNWL. I hope to have your support in this role.”
Dr Singh replaces Dr Mehtab Ghazi Rahman (pictured left) who was the lead physical health clinician for three years and is now the Quality Improvement Clinical Lead for the Trust, alongside his work as a consultant psychiatrist and the responsible clinician for CNWL’s Nile Ward at St. Charles Mental Health Unit in London.
We extend a huge thanks to Mehtab for improving physical health in mental health services here at CNWL. He has been recognised for his quality improvement work externally and received accolades and awards for his efforts in integrating better physical health in mental health settings, medical teaching and reducing violence and restrictive interventions in psychiatric intensive care settings.
