Clare Holt, Consultant Clinical Psychologist works within our Health and Justice services and shares why she decided to come back to CNWL and join the bank.
Her role involves working with young adults at HMP Bronzefield, a modern purpose-built prison for women that offers a wide range of specialist healthcare services.
Clare first joined CNWL nine years ago but left the Trust to relocate.
She said: “I was employed by CNWL between 2014 and 2018, I worked in a wonderful multi-disciplinary team providing care to children in custodial settings. I left to relocate, but have subsequently returned to work on the bank due to exciting opportunities related to my specialism – young people in custody.”
Describing what her day-to-day role is like, Clare says ‘no two days are the same’.
She continues: “There is such potential to make a difference to individuals day-to-day experience of care. I have really enjoyed being part of services where there is flexibility and resource to develop and provide responsive and innovative services.”
Before training as a clinical psychologist, Clare undertook research in custodial settings which attracted her to working with the young people.
She said: “This exposed me to the high level of need amongst this population. I could perceive a real opportunity to help facilitate change and provide much needed support.
Working in Health and Justice provides a fantastic opportunity to provide services to people with a very high level of need. I have always experienced great support from managers and colleagues and feel that working in these unique and complex services has really assisted my professional development.”
