“Working as a Podiatrist within CNWL over the last year has given me the opportunity to develop as a clinician and progress further within my role. It has been a pleasure to work alongside such a friendly team.”
“My journey with Milton Keynes podiatry department started when I came to Milton Keynes for my third year placement in 1995. I graduated in the summer of 1996 when I started doing sessional work which lasted for 3 months until I was offered a permanent post elsewhere.
By the summer of 1998, I was back, as a full time senior II podiatrist where, after a lot of hard work, I was promoted to a full time senior I role/ band 7 after agenda for change in the early 2000’s. I began working with student’s way back then and found this work very rewarding and allowed me to stay in touch with new advances in the world of podiatry. I was also a team lead to around 5, band 6 podiatrists.
In 2009, I reduced my hours to part time and dropped to a band 6 following the birth of my son.
After a short spell of not having students in the department, we started welcoming them backin the 2010’s and as a band 6, I took on the responsibility of co-ordinating the students from UoN and UoS.
More recently we have had our first podiatry apprentice who I mentor, which has been a really steep, but enjoyable learning curve.
At CNWL, they really value working with students and have seen the link between having students and increasing the work force.
Due to this, a new full time role was developed in podiatry earlier this year – a band 7 clinical educator and development lead podiatrist which I applied for and was offered back in May. So far, I have really enjoyed this role and feel I am able to positively contribute to the future of this amazing profession.
Over the many years I have worked here, I have seen many ups and downs and faced many challenges. It is a difficult time at present in the NHS but I feel CNWL have the health of their workforce at heart as well as their patients, which is why I am still here and will hopefully be for many years to come."
"My experience at CNWL has been incredibly positive. My colleagues are welcoming, caring, and supportive, making the work environment feel collaborative and encouraging. The flexible work schedule is a major benefit, allowing for a good work-life balance. Additionally, CNWL offers numerous opportunities for professional growth, with various courses available for those looking to develop their skills further."
