Keeping up to date with routine vaccinations is essential in preventing severe disease for all age groups. Vaccinations also help reduce unnecessary hospital admissions, so World Immunisation Week (24 to 30 April), is an opportunity to remind people when and how they’re available for themselves and their children.

The annual event, which is championed by the World Health Organisation (WHO), promotes the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages – many of which are available through the NHS in England. Check out all the different vaccines available and when to have them here.

CNWL’s Child Immunisation Service is responsible for the School Vaccination Programmes in North West London and Camden. Click here to see what services we offer children of school age.

If you didn’t manage to book your own or your child’s vaccine appointment when invited, make an appointment with your GP practice as soon as possible.

The importance of vaccination has also been highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the value of hand hygiene and infection, prevention and control (IPC). It’s World Hand Hygiene Day on 5 May 2022 too, and we can all work together to prioritise clean hands. If you are unsure of the hand washing technique view this poster

CNWL’s Infection, Prevention and Control Team work with staff to maintain high standards of hygiene in all our services. On Hand Hygiene Day they'll share these reminders for staff working with patients to:

  • be bare below the elbow
  • have a good hand washing technique
  • know the five moments of hand hygiene
  • take good care of their hands

See the staff Infection, Prevention and Control Handbook on Trustnet to find out more.
