It’s National 'No Smoking Day’ on 8 March, which is a day intended to encourage others to stop smoking. The theme this year is “stopping smoking improves your brain health”.

CNWL’s Hillingdon Smoking Cessation Service is committed to providing accessible, evidenced based services that treat tobacco dependence, effectively helping smokers to stop smoking, reduce smoking health harms and inequality and ensure residents stay healthy, giving children the best start in life.  The service is available for anyone living, or has a GP in the Borough.

Key messages for smokers are:

• If you smoke, you are more likely to get dementia.

• Stop smoking and reduce your risk of dementia.

• Every cigarette contains harmful chemicals which are bad for your brain

The Hillingdon smoking cessation team have a week of activities across the borough, targeting priority groups, including young people, pregnancy, mental health and physical health, and substance misuse. Promotions will be held, at Hillingdon Hospital, GP surgeries, Uxbridge library and other targeted locations.
