The Hillingdon Diabetes Team is at the forefront of adopting new technology to improve clinical outcomes. One of the key innovations they use is remote monitoring of blood glucose levels for patients treated with insulin.

Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices offer clinicians valuable insights into a patient’s glucose levels, enabling timely and effective medication adjustments. They attached to a person’s arm like a white circular sticker.

These devices also alert patients when their blood glucose levels are unsafe, reducing the risk of hospital admissions and complications.

The technology has significantly enhanced patient engagement, particularly for those facing barriers to care, such as language differences or mental health challenges.

Having real-time clinical data helps equip the team to provide personalised care, optimise clinician time and make efficient use of resources.
