Kehinde Okesola has started her role as CNWL’s newly appointed Head of Information Governance – that’s all aspects of data protection, confidentiality, patient record requests, Freedom of Information Act matters; at root, helping us make sure the whole Trust and our staff uphold the rights and obligations of the rules of privacy.
Kehinde, 38 and lives in Milton Keynes, replaces Jonathan Craven who was promoted outside the NHS. She previously worked for Public Health England and says, “I’m a mum of two, who loves baking (not terribly great at it), watching movies (thrillers and sci-fi) and travelling (the last two years haven’t been so great for that)!”
“I’ve spent my entire working career in the health sector, for a number of NHS Trusts, private healthcare organisations and in Public Health. I hold a degree in Microbiology and an MSc in Medical Microbiology but after a few years in working in the lab (loved it), drifted into Clinical Governance before venturing into the world of Information Governance – and loved it even more.”
“Good, well-known rules empower people and build trust; a strong IG framework (making sure data subject rights are adhered to) empowers staff to undertake their daily roles.”
And why come to CNWL? “Patients and families are at the heart of what CNWL does and I like that; to be a part of that journey, walking along side patients (perhaps in the background) to get the very best care, supporting in the way their data and information is used.”
Ross Graves, Director of Strategy, said, “Welcome Kehinde! She really was the outstanding candidate for this role – experienced and wholly with us on values – and she knows her stuff! Just what we needed; am so glad she has come aboard!”
