Congratulations to CNWL’s mental health inpatient team at Oak Tree Ward in Hillingdon, shortlisted for the Nursing Times ‘Team of the Year’ Award.
The awards take place every year, showcasing the innovation and best practice of nurses and midwives across the UK. The ‘Team of the Year’ category recognises teams who have demonstrated collaboration with other specialities, professions or services to deliver benefits to patient care.
When commenting about the team at Oak Tree, the Nursing Times judging panel said:
“This mental health inpatient team (who care for older adults) displayed supreme effort and stoicism to deliver high-quality care. Compliance with mental health is law is high, as is morale and sickness rates are low.”
A service user provided this feedback: "I can't compliment them enough."
Steve Ford, Editor of the Nursing Times said:
“I think it’s safe to say that 2021 is special. The past 18 months have once again seen truly incredible work by nursing staff, as the unprecedented and ongoing challenge posed by the pandemic and its impact on services continues. Their efforts deserve our thanks and recognition.”
The team attended the award ceremony on Wednesday 27 October at Grosvenor House Hotel, and although they didn’t take home the crown, they were proud to be finalists in such a prestigious category. Colleagues were joined by Sheri Adesokan, who recently retired from her role as Ward Manager at Oak Tree after nearly 20 years as a CNWL Nurse.
“I can’t compliment them enough.”
Bertha Matunge, Assistant Director of Nursing for CNWL’s Goodall Division said:
“It was a fantastic evening to celebrate the team at Oak Tree and this well-deserved achievement. We are extremely lucky at CNWL to have teams who are kind, caring, and passionate in providing high quality care for all our patients.”
