October is World Menopause Month and 18 October specifically is World Menopause Day. The day is to raise awareness, break the stigma and highlight the support options available for improving health and wellbeing. Research shows 1 in 4 women consider leaving their job due to menopause symptoms (British Menopause Society, 2022).
CNWL is a Menopause Friendly employer and was awarded the Menopause Friendly Accreditation established by Henpicked earlier this year.
Menopause in the Workplace recognises high standards and proven practices that embrace menopause in the workplace. In order to achieve accreditation, employers are assessed by an independent panel and must demonstrate evidence of their effectiveness in six areas: culture, policies and practices, training, engagement, facilities and evaluation.
This reflects how much we value our staff, and our ongoing commitment to be among the leading employers that recognises the benefits of bringing recognition to menopause experiences and real change in the lives of CNWL staff.
The British Menopause Society are launching a programme to dispel menopause misinformation and talking to employers about best-practice menopause policies which you can access here.
The Keeping Well Service for NHS staff in north west London have a dedicated women’s health website page where staff can find a range of free resources, webinars and signposting support.
