Trans Day Of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual event that honours the memory of the trans people whose lives were lost in acts of transphobic violence during the previous 12 months. 

Every year on 20 November vigils and remembrance ceremonies are held across the world to remember those who we have lost due to transphobic violence, and to raise awareness of the violence trans people face while living their lives. 

CNWL's PRIDE@CNWL LGBT+ Staff Network is here to support staff. The networks trans lead, Ozias Smith said

"As painful as TDoR is, it is equally reassuring. Each year I see our community growing, and our allies simultaneously also increasing - in number and public visibility. The trans community and our allies stand side by side in grief and anger, but also in love and hope; hope because as a society we are moving in the right direction, both with reducing incidents of transphobia but also in that we are seeing more people feel able to tell their story.

"On this TDoR while we remember those no longer with us, let us also take a moment to consider what more we can do to support and protect trans and gender non-conforming people, so that next year there are no new names to be read and remembered."

Our network strives to be actively inclusive of our trans, nonbinary and gender non-conforming members. 

Some of our staff will join with Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust staff at a vigil on Sunday. It's open to the public too. There will be a small supply of candles on the day, please feel free to bring your own or any other offerings or tokens you feel are appropriate.
