Discussing the garden.pngOur Young Service User Consultants – 12 children from North Kensington who work in partnership with us, met recently to continue our joint work improving NHS services for children in the community.

During this session our young consultants got busy deciding on how to decorate one of the therapy rooms at the Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service to make it warm and welcoming for people of all ages.

Then they went outside to inspect an area of the garden that has been allocated for a children’s gardening group. There, they discussed possibilities for the group, including how it would work and what could be grown.

They also shared about the importance of the work they do and why their input is needed as young consultants.

“Do you know what a consultant is?” asked one of the NHS Team.

“Yeah, like Effie Trinket from the Hunger Games,” answered one of our young consultants.WHat will the garden look like.jpeg

Before concluding their session the group came up with ideas for a name, and voted on it. They’ve chosen to be called “Grenfell Young Heroes.”

The new gardening group will start at the end of April and is open to children and young people from North Kensington between 8 and 18 years old. The group will take place Tuesdays after school, from 4pm to 5pm, at the Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service garden, located at St Charles Hospital. Space is limited and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

The Grenfell Health and Wellbeing Service already has an active group for teenagers and young people who work with us to improve services. One of the young people from the teenage group helped to plan and run this children’s event.
