In an inspiring display of creativity and teamwork, a group of young people in Harrow have come together to design and plant a community garden.
This initiative, led by Harrow CAMHS service-user participation group – Harrow User Base (HUB) aims to promote health and wellbeing and community spirit.
This year, the group are celebrating it’s tenth anniversary of running the garden project, supported by the CNWL NHS Health Charity and Andrew Machin, Associate Director of Charity Development, who helped donate funds to transform the vibrant green space at Ash Tree Clinic.
Staff members Caitlyn Green, Clinical Associate Psychologist and Sonya Lewin, Service User Participation Lead, Geraldine and Bobby the dog were joined by young members of the group on the day:
Caitlyn said: “In true British fashion the weather did not comply on the day however we did not let this stop us! Our young people joined us at Homebase to pick out their favourite plants. My colleagues and I were joined by four young people plus Bobby the dog to get stuck in.
With everyone’s help we were able to revamp our little garden, we hope our young people, families and staff are now able to utilise the garden as we are approaching the warmer months. Over the years we have found our families and clinicians to really value the space as an alternative to support engagement and we are very pleased to be able to continue this!”
