The Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of over 100 specialist staff including:

Frances has worked in the service for nearly 20 years as a consultant psychiatrist. She trained in eating disorders at the Bethlem and Maudsley and completed a PhD at the Institute of Psychiatry. She has published a number of chapters and peer reviewed articles, and presented at conferences both nationally and internationally.

Frances has been a member of the Executive and Academic Secretary for the Eating Disorder Section of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and played a lead role in the development of the Quality Assurance Network for Eating Disorders (QED). She is currently a member of the NHS England Clinical Reference Group for Specialist Mental Health, and Chair of the Eating Disorders Working Group. 

Rachel is a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse and Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP). She has experience in a variety of mental health settings and in systemic family work. Rachel provides eating disorder training for AMHP’s and has worked at Vincent Square since 2018.

Dr Kan graduated in medicine from University of Cambridge and Imperial College London.  She then completed her psychiatric training at South London & Maudsley NHS Trust.  In addition, she was a Novo Nordisk UK Research Foundation Clinical Research Fellow and Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London. 

She has a PhD in genetic epidemiology and published over 40 peer-reviewed publications in mood and eating disorders. Before joining Vincent Square, Dr Kan worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in general adult psychiatry at North London.

Tim is the Consultant Psychiatrist for our assessment, liaison and intensive community support teams. He originally trained in Engineering at the Universities of Cambridge and MIT, before developing an interest in psychology and mental health. He retrained in medicine and general adult psychiatry, including inpatient and outpatient eating disorders at our collaborative partner hospital, St Ann's.

Alongside clinical work, Tim's professional interests include service development, quality improvement and teaching. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrist's leadership and management scheme.

Claire is Clinical Nurse Manager for the assessment, intensive community treatment and liaison teams within the adult outpatient service, as well as the nursing team within the Children and Young People Service. She has an extensive background in eating disorders having worked at Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service for over 10 years in a variety of roles.

She first started working on the inpatient ward as a staff nurse before being promoted to Deputy Ward Manager. After 5 years she moved to the liaison team within the outpatient service. Within this time, Claire also did a 1 year secondment with the Childrens and Young People Service as a specialist clinical practitioner.

Claire has a clinical interest in the use of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in the treatment of eating disorders and is hoping to gain a CBT therapist qualification in the next few years.

Interesting facts about Claire: Claire is a big fan of music and her favourite band is Linkin Park.  

"I have worked in healthcare since 2002, becoming a qualified nurse in 2008.

I have worked in a variety of general and mental health service in Belfast and London before joining Vincent Square in 2011 as a staff nurse, starting in my current role as Matron in 2021. Over the years I have developed a passion for management, recognising the positive impact these roles have in improving patient care and supporting staff to develop to their full potential.

I believe individual recovery is possible for all.

I love travelling to unique places and pre-covid have worked with Cheetahs and bungy jumped in South Africa, gone ice climbing in Alaska and seen the Monkey Forest in Bali to name a few. I am an avid animal lover and am 'owned' by a very cheeky cat!"

Mark is a family and systemic psychotherapist who has worked in mental health with children, adolescents, adults, and families for over 16 years.

Mark has extensive experience of working in eating disorders, across in-patient, day-patient, and out-patient settings.

As well as experience of working in eating disorders, Mark has worked with adult personality disorders at the Maudsley Hospital, tier 2 CAMHS in west London, and tier 3 CAMHS in east London.

Mark trained systemically at the Tavistock Clinic and the Institute of Psychiatry (King’s College London).

Mark has had two articles published in Context, the family therapy magazine, and regularly leads seminars for trainee family therapists at the Institute of Psychiatry (King’s College London).

 

 

 

Lucy has worked in mental health since 2011 and qualified as a mental health nurse in 2013. Lucy has worked in a variety of mental health settings with both young people and adults. She has over 5 years experience working in both inpatient and community eating disorders in both the UK and Australia.

Lucy loves to travel and spent 3 months travelling around Asia before moving to Australia where she lived for over 5 years. Lucy’s hobbies include tennis, crocheting and spending time with her 2 young nieces.

 

 

 

Miranda started her nursing career in 1995 and graduated in 2005 as an RMN from Middlesex University UK. She explored several specialist fields such as learning disabilities and Autism, forensic service, and Dementia care before joining adult, children and young people ED services for 13 years.

Maria Giulia is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the CAMHS Community Eating disorder Service.

Maria Giulia completed her degree in Medicine and Specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry in Italy and retrained in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust rotation.

She obtained a MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Eating Disorder at UCL graduating with distinction and she is currently completing her doctorate (MDres) at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, KCL (Eating Disorders Group, Psychological Medicine Department).

Maria Giulia is actively involved in research and teaching. She has published a number of peer reviewed articles and chapters and has presented her work both nationally and internationally.

Gabrielle Brady is the Lead Psychologist and Team Lead for the adult therapy team. Gabrielle is responsible for the organisation, management and leadership of psychology and psychotherapy services.

Gabrielle joined Vincent Square in 2013 and has been working in the field of eating disorders for over 13 years. Over this time, she has acquired specialist skills in the assessment, diagnosis, formulation and treatment of patients with eating disorders and co-morbid psychological and physical health difficulties. She has substantial experience in delivering evidence-based treatments to patients across all forms and severity of eating disorders and complex co-morbidities.

Gabrielle has undertaken both quantitative and qualitative research in eating disorders and presented at international conferences. In addition to her core psychology training, she has post-qualification training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (Accredited CAT therapist). She is also a certified nutritionist.

Laura is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist working clinically in the STRIDES (Support to Recovery in Disordered Eating) 18-25 team, as well as supporting psychological therapies across Vincent Square.

She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Kings College London in 2009 and worked with adolescents with complex emotional needs in inpatient and community settings before specialising in eating disorders in 2016. Her special interest is early intervention approaches to eating disorders.

Niki is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the CAMHS Eating Disorder Service.

She originally trained at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, prior to commencing child and adolescent psychiatric training at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Alfred Health, in Australia. Additionally, she holds qualifications in Master of Psychiatry and Master of Public Health.

Clinically, she has worked extensively in the fields of eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders as well as psychosis, in inpatient and outpatient settings.  Niki has a keen interest in research and teaching and has presented in a number of conferences in Australia.

Katie graduated in medicine at King’s College London. She was dually trained in General Adult Psychiatry and Medical Psychotherapy at South London and Maudsley, where she subsequently worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders prior to joining Vincent Square. Katie has published a number of peer reviewed articles and chapters in Eating Disorders. She is the Regional Representative for Eating Disorders in the London Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Katie has also worked as a Consultant Medical Psychotherapist and is experienced in a range of psychotherapeutic modalities.
