We have a diverse workforce of clinical, counselling, forensic and health psychologists working in our services along side CBT, arts, family, EMDR and DBT and MBT therapists.
We also have a number of Assistant Psychologists and trainee therapists, as well as Clinical Associates in Psychology and Education Health and Wellbeing Practitioners to work alongside.
The Campbell Centre (Hazel & Willow Ward)
The Campbell Centre in Milton Keynes is a 36-bed acute inpatient mental health unit. It has two wards, Hazel Ward and Willow Ward, predominantly for working-age adults who require a hospital admission when suffering from a mental health problem. The wards are staffed 24 hours a day and the team consist of nurses, occupational therapists, peer support workers, healthcare support workers, doctors, psychologists, pharmacy staff, domestic staff and discharge coordinators. The Older Persons Assessment Service (TOPAS)
TOPAS is a modern 15-bedded unit providing assessment and treatment predominately for older people with complex or acute mental health needs, enabling a return to independent living wherever possible. The ward is staffed 24 hours a day and the team consist of nurses, occupational therapists and doctors, with regular access and contact with psychology, physio, dietician and pharmacy staff. Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team (CRHTT)
CRHTT is a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) of mental health professionals providing a service between 8am and 10 pm, 7 days per week to people experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis. The team will provide an alternative to hospital admission by delivering intensive community-based interventions. Hospital Liaison Team (HLT)
HLT is a 24-hour team providing rapid psychiatric assessment of adults (over 18 years old) presenting with mental health problems across Milton Keynes University Hospital Accident and Emergency department and inpatient wards. HLT has a dedicated multi-disciplinary team which includes doctors, psychologists, senior practitioners and a number of specialist mental health nurses. Single Point of Access (SPA)
SPA is an all age Mental Health Crisis Line, which offers emotional support and advice to people who require urgent mental health attention, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is also for carers and family members who might be concerned about someone. Learn more...
Street & Ambulance Triage
This service operates from 3pm – 2am, 7 days a week and works alongside the Police to support mental health issues in the community and prevents the use of Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended in 2007) and inappropriate admissions to inpatient services.
Primary Care Plus (PCP)
PCP triages and treats service users who present to their GP suffering from a variety of forms of moderate mental illness. They are based with the GP networks in Milton Keynes and have close working relationships with practice staff. The team can diagnose and prescribe medication as well as offer support for service users for a set number of interventions.
Milton Keynes NHS Talking Therapies
Milton Keynes Talking Therapies Service (IAPT) is a primary care mental health service providing psychological interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), for mild to moderate depression and anxiety disorders.

Early Intervention in Psychosis Team (EIPT)
The Early Intervention in Psychosis Team provides early detection, assessment and intervention for 14 to 65-year olds who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The service aims to provide, evidence-based treatments in order to reduce the impact of Psychosis for the individual and their families.
The service endeavours to engage with individuals for up to three years and will prioritise strategies to provide an environment that promotes user involvement and recovery. Learn more...
Community Mental Health Hub
The Community Mental Health Hub caters for all diagnostic categories and is a needs-led service. It operates within a recovery framework and provides longer–term interventions and support for people with enduring mental health problems, their families and carers as well as incorporating annual physical health checks into care planning. The Hub provides focused and person-centred care over the longer term to enable individuals to remain supported within the community setting.
The Hub is supported by three dedicated managers, a clinical lead psychologist and clinical lead nurse. Consultant responsibility for patients is based on the GP network with whom the patient is registered.
The teams/pathways of the Hub are:
The Assertive Outreach Team (AOT):
Look after patients with severe and enduring mental illness. They often have a chaotic lifestyle with complex and multiple needs and may be difficult to engage. The aim of the team is to prevent admission, minimise length of stay and prevent re-admission to hospital.
The Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) Pathway:
Specialise in working with patients whose central difficulty is with interpersonal relationships.
The Therapy Pathway:
Psychologists and Therapists provide psychological therapies to patients engaging with the Hub.
The Diagnosis and Condition Management Pathway:
Provides support for patients accessing clozapine, lithium and medication management clinics in line with current need. This pathway is supported by highly experienced NMPs and CPNs who also provide physical health checks and run a wellbeing clinic.
Milton Keynes Recovery & Wellbeing College
The Milton Keynes Recovery and Wellbeing College represents the culmination of the work of several stakeholders in Milton Keynes which include the CNWL London Based Recovery and Wellbeing College (RWC), CNWL Mental Health services, Rethink Mental Illness and Milton Keynes Council.
The College is part of the hub and spoke model of CNWL’s London-based Recovery and Wellbeing College and adds additional choice and support to the Milton Keynes community. Students are able to attend face-to-face courses held at the Milton Keynes base and utilise and attend courses run virtually or face-to-face at the CNWL Recovery and Wellbeing College.
The College provides a range of co-produced educational courses, workshops and resources to people who use CNWL services, their supporters including friends, family or carers and CNWL staff and is also open to anyone over 18 years of age with a GP in Milton Keynes. All courses and workshops are designed by people with professional experience of mental health and people with lived experience of mental health and contribute towards wellbeing and recovery and are co-delivered by clinical and peer recovery trainers.

The Healthy Ageing Team
Specialise in older adults suffering from non-organic psychiatric disorders and provides comprehensive psychiatric and neuro-psychological assessment to ascertain the cause of memory problems and arrive at a diagnosis. Following diagnosis, the service offers support, education and information, group and individual sessions including cognitive simulation therapy, memory strategies and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for carers.
The team support people with an established diagnosis of dementia and where there are increased behavioural concerns support and advice is offered. They also provide support to all Care Homes and supported living across Milton Keynes.
CAMHS
The service meets the needs of young people under the age of 18 exhibiting a range of complex and challenging conditions requiring mental health support.
There is also a Local Intensive Support Team (LIST) who work closely with the A&E department and the Paediatric wards of the local acute hospital. The LIST team’s objective is to prevent hospital admission and to facilitate early discharge. Learn more...
Mental Health Support Team (MHST)
The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) are an early intervention service who work in partnership with local schools to offer a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing.
They work with primary and secondary schools and colleges, in parts of Bletchley, Wolverton, Stantonbury and central Milton Keynes, delivering evidence-based interventions to support young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Community Team for Adults with Learning Disabilities
This community-based service provides assessment, treatment and support for adults over the age of 18 who have a learning disability (not a learning difficulty)
They may have complex neurological, genetic, developmental, and challenging conditions requiring mental health support.
The service consists of multi-disciplinary health professionals and is integrated with social care. The service uses a person-centred Positive Behaviour Support approach and aims to reduce over-reliance on psychotropic medication
The service works in collaboration with carers, families and other agencies to promote skilled community living, prevent hospital admission and facilitate early discharge.
